Top diplomats from South Korea, Japan, and China recently met for the first time in four years, and decided on Sunday to start working together again. They want to revive cooperation among these Asian neighbours and have a leaders’ summit, but they haven’t set a specific date yet.
These three countries are closely connected and make up about 25% of the world’s economy. However, they’ve had difficulties cooperating due to various problems, such as historical arguments from Japan’s past actions and the competition between China and the U.S.
The foreign ministers of South Korea, Japan, and China had a meeting in Busan, South Korea, where they agreed to restore and normalize cooperation among the three nations. South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin shared this information with reporters after meeting with Japan’s Yoko Kamikawa and China’s Wang Yi.
Mr. Park mentioned that the three ministers confirmed an earlier agreement made by lower-level officials to restart their leaders’ summit, showing that they are committed to improving their relations.
Three countries have decided to work together on various projects like cultural exchanges, trade, technology, healthcare, sustainable development, and security. Unfortunately, they haven’t set a date for their important meeting, so it might not happen this year as expected .
