A police officer was killed in Senjam chi rang in Imphal West by a riotous mob. The officer was shot in the head while trying to seize arms and ammunitions looted by the mob from Heingang and Singjamei Police stations. It has been reported that a village volunteer was also injured during the gun battle.
According to the official reports, there were crossfires between the police officials and the attackers in various places including Koutruk, Haraothel and Senjam Chirang Areas during which two people were injured including a security personnel.
The security forces fired tear gases to disperse the mob and the mask crowd who gathered around the crossfire in which 25 people sustained injuries.
The police stated that “During the last 24 hours the situation in the state is still volatile
and tense with sporadic incidents of firing and gathering of unruly mobs In different places.
The police further stated that various checkpoints has been set up around Manipur’s hill and valley district, and around 1047 peoples Have already been detained for violations in different districts of the state.
