The Corporate Affairs function is essential to our global growth strategy, focusing on engagement with government bodies and stakeholders to navigate policy and regulatory issues. By fostering constructive relationships and participating in industry forums, the Corporate Affairs team ensures alignment with regulatory frameworks and advances our strategic objectives. This function plays a crucial role in shaping and implementing strategies that drive business growth and reinforce GILAC’s leadership position in the industry. As a General Manager – Corporate Affairs, you will lead and shape Godrej’s government relations and advocacy efforts, driving strategic partnerships, influencing policy development and ensuring regulatory alignment to support business growth and innovation.
Job Responsibilities:
Government relations and advocacy:
- Lead government-related initiatives and advocacy efforts, engaging leadership on public policy and regulatory issues
- Cultivate strong relationships with central and state government authorities, policymakers and stakeholders to promote Godrej’s products, services and policy priorities
- Proactively identify emerging regulations, assess their impact on business, and ensure timely awareness across functions
- Monitor impending legislation, regulatory changes, and incentive schemes, ensuring alignment with business goals
- Secure government support, including financial incentives and pending dues, to help achieve business objectives
Strategic business engagement:
- Build strategic partnerships with internal stakeholders to drive business outcomes and continuous improvement in the Corporate Affairs function
- Collaborate with business leaders to define policy priorities and contribute to processes such as financial planning and product development
- Enable business projects requiring government interventions, ensuring regulatory approvals are aligned with commercial objectives
- Partner with legal counsel and business leaders to secure necessary regulatory approvals for strategic priorities
Industry and association relations:
- Elevate Godrej’s presence in industry associations, strengthening our credibility and driving key policy priorities
- Represent Godrej in industry meetings, working closely with the Group President – Corporate Affairs to drive business activities on critical issues
Thought leadership and policy development:
- Develop and advocate for policy positions that enhance Godrej’s market position
- Lead advocacy initiatives, engaging leadership on critical public policy and regulatory issues
Eligibility & Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree, with an advanced business, technical, or law degree
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, or International Relations is preferred
Experience:
- 15+ years of government relations experience, with a proven track record in shaping policies with central and state governments, corporations, or consulting firms in legislative and regulatory areas
- Extensive experience working with government and key stakeholders to drive positive business outcomes
- Deep understanding of public policy-making and legislative processes, with the ability to engage decision-makers effectively
- Experience in working with technology projects in both public and private sectors
- Demonstrated success in providing strategic advice that blends government relations and business objectives
- Strong ability to work cross-functionally, delivering results by leveraging virtual teams and resources
