On 7th November 2023, Gurpreet Singh Pannu ( a terrorist declared by the Indian government who is working as a lawyer for a Separatist group in Canada) issued a threat to individuals not to travel on 19th November from Canada to India by Air India Flight. On 19th November, India is hosting the finals of the International Cricket World Cup.
Khalistan, a Pakistani and USA-supported group demands a separate nation for the Sikh people. Sikh people live in India as well as in Pakistan but the demand for separate nations is only on the Indian side of Punjab. It was the 1971 India-Pakistan war which changed the world map. Indian Army separated Pakistan and established a new nation i.e., Bangladesh on 16th December 1971. India Defeated Pakistan and the USA because the USA was a supporter of Pakistan. To take revenge for it, Pakistan and the USA started funding for the separation of Punjab from India. They established a separatist organization, Khalistan. In 1984, Khalistanis captured the Golden Temple and operated their separatist agenda from it. Indian Government launched “Operation Blue Star” to remove Khalistanis from the Golden Temple. After this operation, the Khalistani movement stopped in India but Pakistan and the USA internationalized. In 1985, Air India Flight 182 crashed near London, UK. It took the life of 329 people most of them from Indian Canadian. Canadian Investigations said Khalistani separatist groups did it as revenge for “Operation Blue Star.” The Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested Talwinder Singh Parmar, he was a leader of Babbar Khalsa (a Separatist Group). These separatist groups warned Hindu Canadians to return to India or they will be in trouble.
Khalistan could be a threat to the integrity of India. As it trying to damage India’s image. India a country with diversity could do three plans to tackle with so-called Khalistanis. These could be (1) the One India Policy, (2) Promoting its Real Image to the World, and (3) High-level Information sharing between Secret agencies. (1) One India Policy- Just like the Chinese One China Policy, India can adopt the One India Policy which means promoting the real map of India and taking strict actions State that gives shelter to these terrorists. (2) Promoting its Real Image- these terrorist blames the Indian Government for taking the rights of Sikhs and also for human rights violation against the Sikhs which is false and misinformation. India Sikhs are patriotic and have a history of uniting the nation. Indian Sikhs being a minority had reached to highest position in Government from Prime Minister to President. (3) High-level information sharing between agencies- this means sharing of information between India’s friendly country and India as well as within the Indian Security Agencies. These plans could help India to track down Khalistani terrorists.
