Sri N. V. Ramana, former Chief Justice of India, recently got appointed as an International Mediation Panel member of the SIMC (Singapore International Mediation Centre). The chairperson of SIMC, Mr. George Lim announced the appointment of Justice Ramana on 29th of August, 2023 and extended the appointment letter to him in Singapore.
Singapore’s Ministry of Law, UNCITRAL and many other partner organizations had organized an annual convention known as the Singapore Convention Week in the Lion City and Mr. Ramana attended this convention on Tuesday. During this visit, he also came together with representatives of several groups including SIMC, and other Indian corporate groups Reliance, Aditya Birla, Tata and Mahindra. These India’s top MNCs in order to support the mediation led by Justice Ramana, initiated to sign the ‘Declaration of Intent’.
Reportedly, this year’s theme of the mentioned Convention is “Tomorrow’s World Today: Leading the Future of Dispute Resolution” and is a five-day event held from 28th August, 2023 to 1st September, 2023. This event will expectantly witness international leaders from various fields to discuss the views to build the future of dispute resolution.
It is a proud moment for India that Justice Ramana who advocated the adaption of alternative methods for dispute resolution and majorly recommended mediation for the same during his legal career and tenure as a judge is appointed as a member of SIMC International Mediation Panel.
