The actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has filed a claim for damages in the amount of Rs. 100 crores for alleged defamation and harassment against his brother Shamsuddin and his former wife, Anjana Pandey.

On March 30, Justice Riyaz Chagla will take up the case.

The suit claims that Siddiqui appointed his younger brother as his manager in 2008 because Siddiqui was unemployed at the time. In addition, Shamsuddin was responsible for auditing, submitting tax returns, making GST payments, and other tasks.

The petition claims that Siddiqui gave Shamsuddin his credit cards, debit cards, ATM cards, signed cheque book, bank passwords, email address, and other personal information so that he could focus on his acting.

According to the petition, Shamsuddin began defrauding and cheating Siddiqui. The petition claims that Shamsuddin brought properties together but informed Siddiqui that they were being purchased in his name. The properties include a flat and a semi-commercial property on Yari Road, a location in Buldhana, a farmhouse in Shahpur, a property in Dubai, and fourteen automobiles, including BMWs, Ducatis, Range Rovers, and others. In his petition, Siddiqui stated.

According to the petition, when Shamsuddin was questioned, he encouraged Siddiqui’s former wife to file false cases against him. The petition also asserts that, despite being married to someone else, Anjana Pandey claimed to be an unmarried Muslim prior to their marriage.

According to the lawsuit, Siddiqui has alleged that Shamsuddin and Pandey have illegally taken 20 Crore rupees. Additionally, the suit states that Shamsuddin, who worked as Siddiqui’s manager, had the access to attend several of Siddiqui’s meetings and recorded the discussions in both audio and video formats.

Siddiqui terminated Shamsuddin’s employment as his manager in 2020. Siddiqui claims that after that, he received legal notices for Rs 37 in unpaid dues from the Income Tax, GST, and other government departments that Shamsuddin was unable to pay.

According to the petition, Shamsuddin and Pandey started threatening Siddiqui with “cheap videos” and comments on social media when he asked for his properties back. Shamsuddin also got his other brothers to do this, the petition says.

According to the petition, Shamsuddin and Pandey’s false videos and posts have delayed Siddiqui’s upcoming films. Siddiqui has also claimed that the posts and articles are so defamatory that he is afraid to go out in public or attend social gatherings.

As a result, Siddiqui has requested a permanent injunction prohibiting Shamsuddin and Pandey from publishing defamatory material on their social media platforms. He has also requested a written public apology and the removal of their defamatory social media posts.

Additionally, Siddiqui has requested that the individuals Shamsuddin and Pandey approached in order to convey “false and malicious information” about him be made public.

He has prayed for the two to refrain from disposing of their assets, particularly in a manner that could prevent him from recovering damages.
