The solicitation filed by the association of Popular Reforms( ADR), challenges The finance act, 2017 which was legislated as a plutocrat bill. The Act also removed the former limit of7.5 of the company’s average three- time net profit for political donations.
As per the scheme, a company isn’t needed to name the political parties to which similar benefactions are made. The benefactors name are also not revealed to the general public.
Our constitution has given us right to know but subdue to certain restrictions
So Attorney General R Venkataramani said “ there can be no general right to know” anything and everything” without being subordinated to reasonable restrictions ”.
Citizens don’t have the right to information under Composition 19( 1)( a) of the Constitution regarding the backing of a political party.

R Venkataramani also said that the Supreme Court would be entering the sphere of policy if it tried to regulate electoral bonds.
this scheme was pitched as an volition to cash donations for political parties. According to the vittles of the scheme, electoral bonds may be bought by any citizen of India or reality incorporated or established in India. An existent can buy electoral bonds, either independently or concertedly with other individualities.
Also AG added that, the right to know as necessary for expression can be for specific ends or purposes and not else. The electoral bonds scheme doesn’t infringe upon any existent’s rights, the AG continued, and can not be said to be discordant to any right under Part III of the Constitution.
