Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, told an Ahmedabad trial court on Saturday that he has petitioned the Supreme Court to have the criminal defamation case against him transferred.

Tejashwi Yadav, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, informed a trial court in Ahmedabad on Saturday that the criminal defamation case against him has been forwarded to the Supreme Court. On November 6, a hearing on the matter is planned.

Through legal representation, the head of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) requested to be excused from appearing in court before Additional Metropolitan Magistrate DJ Parmar. He had been called on September 22 in connection with a criminal defamation complaint due to his said statement that “only Gujaratis can be thugs”.

The case was postponed by the court and a hearing was scheduled for December 2.Haresh Mehta, the complainant’s attorney, had contended that the trial court had to proceed with Yadav’s absence because the matter hasn’t been taken up by the supreme court yet and no order has been issued.

Yadav’s official engagement on that day and the fact that he had petitioned the Supreme Court under section 406 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to transfer the case were two of the grounds for exemption that he brought before the court on Saturday.

The RJD leader stated that the aforementioned transfer petition is provisionally scheduled for November 6 based on the case status that was retrieved from the Supreme Court website. Yadav claimed in his exemption application that he is a law-abiding citizen, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, and that he usually dwells in Patna at his official address.

“Thus, the candidate charged has not had the option to go to the further procedures under the watchful eye of this court attributable to squeezing and dire authority responsibilities, which include administering significant ventures for the government assistance of the overall population, which are fundamental considering the approaching strict merriments in the express,” the application expressed..

Yadav further expressed that his exchange appeal under the steady gaze of the pinnacle court is probably going to be taken up on November 6, and looked for that further procedures be led within the sight of his attorney and no protest be taken in such manner.

The court had directed a request against Yadav under segment 202 of the CrPC and tracked down adequate grounds to gather him in view of an objection documented by Mehta, a 69-year-old social laborer and money manager from Ahmedabad.

Mehta had presented evidence of Yadav’s comments made to the media in Patna on March 21 of this year along with his complaint to the court.”In the current scenario, only people from Gujarat may act like thugs, and their crimes of fraud will be pardoned. If they flee after being offered the LIC and bank’s money, who will be held accountable? Yadav stated.

The complaint stated that the request to label the whole Gujarati population as “thugs” denigrates and publicly humiliates every Gujarati in public. The comment was made in public.

According to him, Yadav should receive the harshest punishment possible because a “thug” is a renegade, cunning, and criminal. Comparing Gujaratis to the entire community will make others see them with distrust.
