In a significant development, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended names of new Chief Justices for the seven High Courts in India. Chief Justices will be appointed to the High Court of Gujarat, Manipur, Bombay, Orissa, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

The recommendations were made by the collegium headed by Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud and comprised of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sanjeev Khanna. The appointment resolutions were uploaded on the official website of the Supreme Court on Wednesday night.[1]

The recommended appointments are as follows-

The recommendations are subject to approval by the president of India. They demonstrate a proactive approach and commitment by the Collegium towards ensuring the integrity and independence of the judiciary
