On 30th March, 2023 Ram Navami Shobha Yatra was taken out from Howrah Kazipara to Howrah Maidan. The said procession was intercepted near Chara and PM Bustee area , riots broke out between two groups , instances of stone pelting , petrol , alcohol bottles was seen from the roofs of the nearby houses.
Police officials were unable to control the mob and soon a devastating scenario emerged and large number of people were hurt due to the following riot.
The Opposition MLA Suvendu Adhikari moved to the Calcutta High Court with a PIL filed by Advocate Suryaneel Das seeks that Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the matter.
Suvendu Adhikari alleges that this was pre planned stunt by the ruling government and this incident is a now a regular thing in the state. He further said the Chief Minster had intention for a possible clash as the ‘Dharna Protest’ was colliding with the dates of Ram Navami Jayanti.
The CM Mamata Banerjee responded to the claimed allegations as malicious remark by the opposing party and said it’s a organised attack by these people who are alleging her , as a retaliation to them for not being invited in the Meeting with The President in her visit to the state.
Both the Parties are alleging these attacks on each other where as innocent people are meaninglessly manipulated and are suffering injuries.
