The Tamil Nadu government responded to the Supreme Court of India that the Cinema halls had withdrawn the screening of ‘The Kerala Story’. This is the personal action of the theatre owners. The state cannot do any action concerning the same. Additionally, it was also stated by the theatre owners that due to poor box office collection, poor performance, and the poor response of the audience, they need to cancel the screening of the same. The government of Tamil Nadu also mentioned that the movie was released in different 19 multiplexes[1].

Furthermore, the government of Tamil Nadu also mentioned that it also offered a good level of security to all the cinema halls but the petitioners failed to display any of the documents saying that the state has halted the film screening. Over 965 police officers comprising 25 DSPs were already posted to offer protection in 21 movie theatres that were previously screening the same film[2]. The government also stated that the petitioners are trying to gain publicity under the edge of the petition filed[3]. The right of freedom end expression was also safeguarded by the Tamil Nadu government under Article 19 (1) (a).
