The inherited and systematic discrimination against women is deteriorating their potential and upward mobility in the legal profession, said by renowned Justice BV Nagarathna, the Supreme Court judge. She stated that the women legal professionals are working at the lower hierarchical position while men have occupied the higher positional work. She ardently pointed that the systematic discrimination is hampering the development of women in legal profession. It has been seen that working number of men and women at academic level is equal though it is not same in terms of higher status jobs.

Historically, women were not allowed to enter the administration and legal jobs and it was very difficult     journey for them. But from a century thing changed drastically, the women also consider to be equally capable as men to argue in the court of law, even the have proven themselves in the field of administration also. There is a sense of equality and justice which exists in the society and women are realizing to pursue their interest and desires.

She strongly appealed that judiciary must be sensitive, susceptive, independent and free from prejudices. It must be ensured that the bench of judges comprises of women judges as well, this will encourage the spirit of democracy because it increases the representative of women in the legal field. Despite of it, it will inbuild a strong believe of people on the foundation of judiciary which will be a torchbearer for the way of development to young generation. She reiterated that the maximum participation of women in the judge bench will motivate rest of the women to choose the legal field as career along with the empowerment to approach judiciary for the call of justice.
