- The state government had initially denied the existence of the ACRs, but later admitted that they were misplaced. However, it took the government almost 10 years to locate the ACRs and send them to the high court.
- The high court, while hearing the petition, observed that the state government’s conduct was “highly irresponsible” and “unreasonable”. The court also noted that the delay had caused “irreparable loss” to the doctor.
- In its order, the high court directed the state government to pay Rs 50,000 to the doctor as cost. The court also directed the government to promote the doctor to the next higher pay-scale with effect from 2013.
