The CBI had called the Bihar Deputy Chief Minister for questioning thrice but he skipped each time.

Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, filed a petition with the Delhi High Court asking that three summonses issued by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the land-for-jobs scam case be set aside.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader’s plea is listed for hearing tomorrow (Thursday) before Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma.

The case will be heard by Judge Dinesh Kumar Sharma’s Bench on Thursday.

When Lalu Prasad served as the Union Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009, allegations of appointments in the railroad industry made in exchange for land given to his family were the subject of the case.

The CBI’s argument is that the recruiting standards and policies established by the Indian Railways were not followed by the appointments made in the railroads.

Subsequently, on October 10, 2022, the CBI filed a charge-sheet against 16 persons, including Prasad’s wife Rabri Devi and their child.

Yadav claims in his plea that the letters were sent out in violation of Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) with the objective of harassing him and that he was a minor at the time of the alleged offence.

According to reports, Yadav is being requested to attend for questioning in Delhi despite though he is a resident of Patna, which is against the proviso of Section 160 of the CrPC.

An alternate prayer has been made to question Yadav either at his residence or through video-conferencing.

Tejashwi Yadav also requested a directive, especially a mandamus, to revoke summonses the CBI had issued for appearances before its New Delhi branch on February 28, 2023, March 4, 2023, and March 11, 2023.
