Justice DY Chandrachud took oath as the 50th Chief Justice of India today. The oath was administered by the Presence of India, Smt. Dropadi Murmu.
The Centre on 17 October notified that Justice DY Chandrachud shall be the Chief Justice of India wef 09 November 2022.
Justice DY Chandrachud is the son of the longest serving Chief Justice of India, Justice YV Chandrachud.
CJI DY Chandrachud has succeeded Chief Justice UU Lalit, who retired yesterday.
Justice DY Chandrachud will serve exactly for the term of two years, i.e., until 10 November 2024.
