It offers participants the invaluable opportunity to step into the roles of trade negotiators, diplomats, and policymakers, simulating the intricacies of WTO negotiations and developing a deep understanding of the principles that guide global commerce. One of the key features of the Model WTO is the Ministerial Conference an arena where the most pressing trade issues are debated and decisions that shape global policy are made. It is in this context that we introduce the current issue of reducing tariffs on timber and wood products, a topic that transcends economic discussions to encompass environmental and climate concerns. Through these discussions, participants will not only gain practical experience in trade negotiations but also explore the profound implications that trade policy decisions can have on global environmental outcomes.

The reduction of tariffs on timber and wood products presents an opportunity for enhanced economic growth and market expansion. About the Department

The Department of Studies in Law was established in 1973 and is a leading institution in Southern India for providing advanced legal education and research. The department offers a two-year (4 Semester) LL.M. program, with optional specializations in Constitutional Law, International Law, and Business and Trade Law. In addition, the department conducts research for the award of Ph.D. in Law. The LL.M. program at Mysore is renowned for its strong emphasis on legal research, which students are required to complete through a dissertation. Several student dissertations have been published, further contributing to the department’s academic reputation. The Department of Studies in Law is also recognized for its rigorous and high-quality teaching. Students from various states across India, as well as international students from countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, and Tibet, seek admission. The department is equipped with a well-stocked library, computer facilities, and other necessary resources to support its academic programs.
