The three men were detained as part of the Enforcement Department’s money laundering investigation against Amanatullah Khan, an AAP lawmaker, which is connected to purported anomalies in the hiring of Delhi Waqf Board employees.
The three individuals detained in a case involving purported anomalies in the Delhi Waqf Board recruiting process were sent in judicial detention until December 1 by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Friday.
Amanatullah Khan, an MLA for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is said to have been associated with the three accused, Zishan Haider, Dawood Nasir, and Javed Imam Siddiqui. Amanatullah has been charged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) with obtaining “huge proceeds of crime” in the form of cash through unauthorised hiring for the Delhi Waqf Board and buying real estate in the names of his cronies.
After their three-day ED custody period ended on Thursday, the judge granted them one additional day of custody.
The three accused were being held in police custody for a further five days, as requested by the ED. It said that an agreement worth Rs 36 crore had been uncovered from Zeeshan’s mobile phone, and that a cash transaction totaling Rs 6 crore had been recorded in the diary.
The three accused people’s detention was required to conclude the investigation, according to the ED, which stated that the inquiry was at a critical point.
The ED’s money laundering investigation into AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, which is connected to purported anomalies in the hiring of staff for the Delhi Waqf Board, resulted in the arrest of the three men.
The ED had previously informed the court that these individuals were involved in money-laundering, that Amanatullah Khan owned the funds spent, and that they had purchased property at his request.
According to the ED, the probe is currently in a critical phase. Over the past three months, numerous locations have seen raids, and numerous significant documents have been taken.
According to the ED, the three accused were questioned collectively before being taken into custody.
