Elective subjects gives you a chance to choose your specialization when you are in law school. But how to choose 1 or 2 subjects among 30+ subjects? Here are some things which you might want to consider before choosing an elective.

We all can agree that a good professor can make or break your performance. Take some time out to enquire about the faculty who will he teaching you the particular subject. Check out everything- from how much reading is assigned to how grades are determined. Looking at the syllabus is also an effective way to get a better sense of the teacher, as in, if he or she has specialized in that particular subject or has won any awards regarding the same.

You might have an idea of the general courses that you plan to take during your time in law school, elective is a subject which you can change depending on everything, from your academic records to your area of interest.

If you struggle with subjects which you need to crack in order to pass the Bar Exam, then taking up courses regarding the same might be your way around or you have a new found area of interest and are eager to learn more about it? Writing skills are also important not only for passing law school, but also in the professional life. You’ll have to draft legal documents, or you might want to write a research paper. But for doing all this, you need to study the course of that particular subject, which is legal drafting, so try taking up this subject as one of your electives as well!
