The Delhi high court on May 11 reviewed the petition filed by the caretaker of the temple in Mayapuri. The PIL was aimed at quashing the order of PWD. The religious committee had noticed that the temple structure is unauthorized. It is not ensuring the free flow of traffic. So, it decided to demolish the temple structure. The court observed the reports of the religious committee by reviewing the photographs, sketches, etc. The caretaker (petitioner) of the temple opposed this through her statement that the temple is not the reason behind the advent of the traffic. It was also said in the petition that the cars parked behind the temple in the market area are creating such an issue. Eventually, the court examines the representation of both the concerned parties and finds the grounds of the religious committee more rational.
The court instructed the petitioner to remove the idols from the 55 years temple located at Mayapuri and transfer it to some other temple[1]. The PWD is permitted to begin its construction after 20th May. The court said “No impediment shall be caused by the petitioner or anyone on behalf of the petitioner in the same”[2].
