Complaint plea filed in Bihar court over song in film ‘Pathaan’
The song “Besharam Rang” from the movie “Pathaan” is offensive and harms the feelings of the Hindu community, according to Sudhir Ojha, a lawyer in Muzaffarpur.
In Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, a complaint petition was submitted seeking a court to issue a FIR against Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone for allegedly “hurting religious emotions” of Hindus in a song from their upcoming movie “Pathaan.”
A lawyer named Sudhir Kumar Ojha has brought the complaint before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Muzaffarpur. He asked for a court order preventing the film’s release in his plea.
“During filming, a song was shot (Besharm rang kahan dekha duniya walon ne) in which saffron color has been wrongly presented with the aim of spreading obscenity as well as hurting Hindu sentiments, due to which complainant was deeply aggrieved,” the complaint plea reads.
According to media reports, the case will be heard in court on January 3.
On Monday, shortly after the song was released, a social media movement calling for a boycott of the movie Pathaan got underway.
According to Madhya Pradesh’s Home Minister Narottam Mishra, the government would have to decide whether or not the movie should be released in the state if the filmmaker doesn’t change the costume.
