About the University of NALSAR

The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), is a public law school and a National Law University located in Shamirpet, Hyderabad, Telangana, India, and is considered as one of the best law schools in India.

It is among the first universities to offer the five-year integrated undergraduate law degree, postgraduate law degree and doctorate law degree. The university is known for its highly competitive admissions, and has an acceptance rate of 0.132 %. It has an intake of around 132 students selected from a pool of around 100,000 students in its undergraduate law programme.

About 2-Year LL.M. In Insolvency & Bankruptcy Laws

The LL.M course offered by the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad) in collaboration with Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA, New Delhi) is a first of its kind LL.M. Degree program in Insolvency & Bankruptcy Law. India has a huge market for helping distressed and bankrupt companies come out of financial difficulty. But it faces a huge shortage of bankruptcy professionals who can oversee this process.

The number of Insolvency Professionals and Insolvency Associates is very less considering the number of filings taking place every day at NCLT. Therefore, there is a serious need to produce good insolvency associates and ecosystem for providing ARCs and Academia. Therefore, the Master level course in Insolvency & Bankruptcy Laws is the need of the hour. There is a vacuum in this area in the legal educational system in the country and this course seeks to fill up this vacuum.

Eligibility

LL.B. Degree or any other Bachelor Degree in Law with a minimum of fifty percent (50%) marks or its equivalent grade (forty five percent (45%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories).

Candidates appearing for their final year examination of the qualifying are also eligible to apply. There is no upper age limit for appearing for the Course.

To be eligible for admission under the Resident Student of Telangana category seats, in addition to complying with the eligibility as mentioned above and based on the merit in the entrance examination coupled with personal interview conducted by the University, candidates must fulfill the following condition:

(i) a student who after studying in the State of Telangana for four consecutive years appears for the qualifying examination in the Telangana State; or

(ii) a student who has in the previous seven years resided in the State of Telangana for at least a period of four years, and completed the qualifying examination i.e., LL.B. from the educational institutions in the State of Telangana
