The Division bench of chief justice Alok Aradhe and Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar has directed the state, Animal Welfare Board, Municipal Corporation, Telangana State Forest Department and the Commissioner of Police to file a status report in the PIL.
Petitioner has approached the court for the cause of the life and liberty of thousands of animals (including some animals are those which are protected by Wildlife Protection Act,1972). HSI has also argued that the State Animal Welfare Board turned a blind eye on the cruelty on the animals and the illegally running pets shop. The petitioner also argued that the State animal welfare board was not working properly even where the stores were registered the State AWB was not properly ascertained whether the pets shop was in compliance with the prevailing guidelines.
