Legal Vidhiya presents a 3-Day Workshop on Legal Education and Career, scheduled from 18 to 20 July 2025, aimed at equipping law students, legal interns, and aspiring professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the foundational pillars that support a successful legal career. This workshop is structured to offer participants practical insights into career planning, legal drafting skills, and the significance of legal aid in promoting justice. Each session is designed to address real-world challenges and opportunities in the legal domain, making it a must-attend for anyone looking to strengthen their legal foundation.


Day 1: Career in Law

Topics Covered:

  • Traditional vs. Non-traditional legal careers
  • Roles in Litigation, Judiciary, Corporate Law, Legal Journalism, Policy, and Academia
  • Internships, CV building, and networking tips
  • Skill sets required for each path
  • Live examples and alumni stories

Day 2: Basics of Legal Drafting

Topics Covered:

  • Importance of legal drafting in practice
  • Structure and format of legal documents
  • Drafting legal notices, contracts, and affidavits
  • Common mistakes and how to avoid them
  • Practical tips for clarity, precision, and professionalism in drafting

Day 3: Legal Aid Awareness

Topics Covered:

  • What is Legal Aid? Constitutional and statutory basis (Art. 39A, Legal Services Authorities Act)
  • Role of NALSA, SALSA, and DLSAs
  • Who is entitled to free legal aid?
  • Legal aid clinics and the role of law students in access to justice
  • Case studies on successful legal aid interventions

About the Speaker

Advocate Ritu Bhardwaj is a highly respected legal practitioner, actively representing clients before the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court. She is empanelled with the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee (SCLSC) and has successfully appeared on behalf of various government authorities before the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Her academic background includes a law degree from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), followed by specialization in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, and further legal studies at the Indian Law Institute (ILI). She has been entrusted by both the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court to serve as Amicus Curiae in several sensitive and high-profile criminal matters.

Her key area of expertise lies in Criminal Law, where she has dealt with complex, high-stakes cases involving double murders, honour killings, the Vikas Dubey encounter case, and other serious offences requiring deep legal acumen. She is widely recognized for her ability to handle intricate criminal matters and deliver impactful advocacy before constitutional courts. Her professional integrity and strategic litigation skills have positioned her as a sought-after voice in the Indian legal system.

Beyond courtroom battles, Ritu Bhardwaj is a dedicated activist for social justice and constitutional rights. She has consistently fought for the rights of SC/ST employees, Persons with Disabilities (PWD) students, and other marginalized groups. She has taken legal action to challenge religious discrimination and has spearheaded landmark cases like the Bhagat Nagar demolition case, where her intervention saved over 1,000 families from eviction. Additionally, she represented residents in the Mazgaon Tadwadi Chawl redevelopment case in Mumbai before the Supreme Court, showcasing her commitment to protecting vulnerable communities through legal redress.
