About Webinar

Join us for a FREE LIVE WEBINAR titled “Digital Arrest, Online Fraud & Cyber Crimes: What Does the Law Really Say?” on 11 October 2026 (Sunday), from 5:00 PM onwards, hosted by Legal Vidhiya. This session is designed to provide a practical and comprehensive understanding of digital arrest scams, online fraud, UPI-related frauds, cybercrime complaints, intermediary liability, and the legal remedies available to victims.

With the rapid growth of digital transactions and online communication, cyber fraud and technology-driven crimes have become increasingly common. One emerging concern is the “digital arrest” scam, where fraudsters impersonate police officers, government authorities, or other officials and threaten individuals with arrest or legal action to extract money or personal information. The webinar will explain how such scams operate and discuss the relevant legal provisions and protections available under Indian law.

The session will also focus on UPI fraud and other forms of online financial fraud, including common methods used by fraudsters, the legal framework applicable to such offences, and the steps that victims can take after suffering financial loss. Participants will gain practical insights into the available remedies and the importance of timely reporting and preservation of digital evidence.

A significant part of the webinar will focus on filing cybercrime complaints, providing participants with a step-by-step understanding of the complaint process, the importance of documenting evidence, and the appropriate channels for reporting cyber offences. The discussion will also cover the role and liability of intermediaries and digital platforms, examining their responsibilities in relation to unlawful online activities and user-generated content.

The webinar will further discuss the legal remedies available to victims of cybercrime, including practical guidance on reporting fraud, approaching the appropriate authorities, protecting digital and financial information, and understanding the legal avenues available for seeking relief. Overall, the session aims to equip law students, legal professionals, and individuals with practical knowledge to better understand and respond to the growing challenges of digital arrest, online fraud, UPI fraud, and cybercrime.
