The incident took place on Monday where a man and women set themselves on fire outside the supreme court premises, the incident has recently been taken into cognizance by the National Commission for Women or NCW.

The commission released a press note to the media in which it has stated that the woman had filed a rape case against MP Atul Rai but she was denied the opportunity to seek justice as the police issued a non-bailable warrant against her, also the woman who set herself to fire in front of the apex court had mentioned that the accused harassed and even threatened her.

Looking at the severity of the incident the National Commission for Women decided to take cognizance of the matter including the Chairperson of the commission, Rekha Sharma, who has written to authorized like Director-General of Police, Uttar Pradesh to seek inquiry and a detailed action report of the incident.

The NCW ensuring safety & securing of the victim has even asked for explanation and details of all the steps taken by the police which seem necessary to them and also asked to take action against the police affairs who issued warrant against the woman. The commission has demanded the report at its earliest.

In the letter to the commissioner of Delhi police, Rekha Sharma the Chairperson of the NCW has asked him to conduct an inquiry into this incident based on all the law provisions, the commission has also made efforts to ensure financial & medical aid to both the man & woman who are now admitted to the ram Manhoar Lohia hospital of Delhi.

The police & media reports have released all the above-mentioned details in the public domain, stating that the reason of the man & woman setting themselves to fire was not known at the time of the commencement of the incident as both of them prima facie poured kerosene on them & just set themselves to fire.

However, the police team on the spot managed to rescue both the man & woman said the deputy commissioner of police, Deepak Yadav, New Delhi, in the press release.

Both the victims have been taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital of Delhi to give immediate treatment stated the NCW which also demanded the police report of the matter as soon as possible.
