Karnataka AG Prabhuling K Navadgi, AAG Dhyan Chinnappa Resign: Sr. Adv. K Shashi Kiran Shetty appointed as new Advocate Genera of Karnataka

Hon’ble Karnataka’s Advocate General Prabhuling K Navadgi has given his resignation to Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot.

Prabhuling K Navadgi was appointed as Advocate General in 2019. He fought some cases on behalf of the state government such as the case regarding the ban on hijab, 25 percent reservation of Karnataka students at the National Law School University of India[1]. He fought in favor of the Karnataka Police (Amendment) Act 2021, which aimed to ban online gaming by the state.

As far as the qualification of Prabhuling K Navadgi is concerned. He completed his graduation from the University Law College situation in the tech city of Bangalore. He did complete his 5 years law course with 1^st division from the ULC, Bangalore. His father hon’ble justice KB Navadgi was a reputed judge of the Karnataka high court bench and served the Indian judiciary for a tenure of 27 years.

In 2011, he assumed the role of Additional Advocate General for the state of Karnataka, representing the state in various legal cases. His exceptional performance led to a promotion in June 2014 when he was appointed as a Senior Counsel. In April 2015, he achieved another milestone as he was elected to serve as the Additional Solicitor General of India for the Karnataka High Court.

On the same occasion, Hon’ble Advocate General Dhyan Chinnappa and Arun Shyam also gave their resignation.

Senior Advocate K Shashi Kiran Shetty will be the newly appointed advocate general of Karnataka. He is an alumnus of the National Law School of India University. He completed his 5 years law program in 1998. He had managed multiple cases of constitutional law, administrative law, family law, etc[2].
