We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Policy Counsel to join our team at SFLC.in. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping policy strategies, contributing to the organization’s advocacy efforts, and providing leadership in matters related to technology, human rights, and intellectual property law. Job Title: Policy Counsel
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Delhi, India
Experience: 2+ years
Responsibilities:
1. Policy Research and Advocacy:
• Conduct in-depth research on laws and policies in technology law, human rights law, and IPR laws.
• Draft policy submissions, advocacy documents, and position papers with precision and attention to detail.
• Provide well-informed organizational viewpoints on policy matters.
2 Publication and Analysis:
• Contribute to the monthly publications on the SFLC.in website, including articles, opinion pieces, and other literature.
• Stay abreast of developments in privacy, data protection, free speech, net neutrality, and other relevant areas.
• Analyze and communicate policy perspectives on emerging issues
3. Case Studies and Collaborative Initiatives:
• Conduct research and case studies on laws related to Information Technology, Data Privacy, and Intellectual Property Rights.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to further the organization’s policy goals.
4. Leadership and Mentorship:
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior members of the policy team.
• Represent the organization in relevant forums, conferences, and policy discussions.
Qualifications:
• Law/Policy degree from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant Policy experience, preferably in technology policy.
• Excellent academic credentials and research skills.
• Familiarity with the Open Source Ecosystem.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Hindi.
