About the Job Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced legal professional to build and head our in-house legal function. This isn’t just a support role; it’s a pivotal leadership position. You’ll work closely with our founders and cross-functional teams — product, sales, operations — as well as external stakeholders and legal advisors, ensuring we expand responsibly and stay ahead of legal pitfalls.
You’ll take full ownership of contracts, compliance, intellectual property, and regulatory interpretation. You’ll establish legal frameworks from the ground up, manage risk without stifling business momentum, and be the driving force behind our ability to scale wisely — not just quickly.
Job Responsibilities:
Documentation & Contract Management
Draft, review, and finalize legal documents, including contracts, NDAs, MSAs, and SOWs for customers, partners, and vendors
Legal Support & Compliance
Advise management on legal matters in India
Ensure full compliance with local statutory regulations, internal controls, and corporate governance requirements
Conduct monthly compliance audits and manage matters within India
Support audit related activities
Protect company intellectual property, including patents and trademarks
Litigation
Develop litigation strategies and risk minimisation processes
Manage litigation processes with external counsel as needed
Process improvement & cross functional collaboration
Develop and refine legal processes, enhancing collaboration across departments such as HR, Finance, and Delivery.
Keep up-to-date with legal developments and foster a legal knowledge base within the Company
Regulatory Compliance
Monitor and interpret regulatory developments ensuring the organization remains compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to address regulatory requirements and mitigate compliance risks.
Stay on top of RBI and sectoral regulations and ensure company practices remain ahead of the curve.
Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, auditors, external legal counsel, and other external parties on compliance-related matters.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on compliance priorities and initiatives.
Eligibility & Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in drafting, negotiation and advisory experience on different commercial transactions gained at a leading law firm and/ fintech/ or in-house at a multinational corporation.
- Ability to work independently, move fast, and be the legal backbone of a high-growth business
- Strong understanding of regulatory, data, and tech-related legal frameworks
- The role requires the individual to be well skilled in contract analysis and working knowledge of the fundamental legal provisions of commercial contracts.
- Excellent attention to details, ability to analyze and assess business processes, spot issues and propose/implement solutions.
- Ability to function autonomously yet communicate laterally and upwardly with ease.
- Strong legal and business judgment.
- Strategic mindset with hands-on operational agility
- Experience in reporting to CEO/ CFO/ founders.
