The Institute of Banking and Personnel Selection (IBPS) is an autonomous body  that conducts competitive exams for the recruitment of clerical and officers level posts in banking sector.

IBPS SO (Specialists Officer) is one such exam that is conducted by IBPS every year.

The exam for IBPS SO (Law) is conducted in three stages:

1. Preliminary Exams

2. Mains Exam

3. Interview

IBPS follows a fixed criteria of marking scheme in all its exams, i.e., a penalty of 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answers and unattempted questions will not be awarded any marks.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Citizenship: The candidate must be a resident of India
  • Age limit: The minimum age limit is of 20 years and the maximum limit is 30 years
  • Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council

Preliminary Exam

There are three sections in this exam and the maximum marks is 125 for 150 questions

  • English language (50 questions for 25 marks)
  • Reasoning (50 questions for 50 marks)
  • General Awareness with Special reference to Banking Industry (50 questions for 50 marks)

Mains

After qualifying the IBPS SO Law Officer Prelims exams, you will be called for the Mains Exam. This exam consists of only one section in which your professional knowledge regarding law is judged.

The total marks for this test is 60 and the time limit is 45 minutes.

Interview

If you qualify IBPS SO Law Officer Mains exam, you will be shortlisted for the Interview. The interview is of 100 marks and the minimum qualifying marks in IBPS SO Law Interview is 40% and 35% for general and reserved categories respectively. The scores of your Mains and Interview will be taken into consideration while making the final merit list.
