The High Court Concerns over the matter of illegal construction of the blockage and as a result the artificial floods were created, destruction happened.

  • The PIL describes about the few industrialists and real estate dealers acting in collusion with the government officials have illegally blockade in the water channels in the agricultural land in the Southern district of Kamrup, creates the Artificial floods in that area.
  • The Petitioner alleged that the illegal construction made by the respondents in the Palasbari area has been blocked the water-flow and rain-storage system, causing difficulties to the regional people.
  • Also alleged that there was no redressal forum was established upon this matter.

The Court analyses the matter and taken consideration upon the petitioner’s prayer for a fact finding committee appointed by the court in order to resolve the matter.

Justice Suman Shyam and Justice Mridul Kumar Kalita ordered the constitution of fact-finding committee upon the chairperson of Advocate Anjan Kalita, often visit the site and carryout the inspection and interact with all the authorities to it and submit the report.

Further the court held that the police and local administration officials would be co-operative with the committee upon the matter.
