About the Speaker

Dr. Divya Dwivedi is an Assistant Professor at the School of Law, UPES Dehradun, where she teaches International Trade & Investment Law, International Economic Law, and Data Protection Law. Her academic focus covers a wide range of topics, including International Trade Law, Investment Law, data governance, and the evolving landscape of data protection in India. Dr. Dwivedi completed her legal education at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, and pursued her master’s specialization in International Trade & Investment Laws from National Law University, Jodhpur, graduating with academic distinction.

Dr. Dwivedi earned her PhD from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, supported by a prestigious doctoral fellowship from the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Her doctoral research titled “Data Privacy and Public Service Delivery in India: A Critical Legal Study” critically examined the expanding Public Sector Data infrastructures in India. This project explored the implications of these developments on citizen privacy, accountability, and state-citizen relations in digital service delivery.

Her work contributes significantly to India’s privacy jurisprudence and offers comparative perspectives on democratic data governance frameworks. Dr. Dwivedi’s research sheds light on the complex intersections of technology, law, and governance, making her an important voice in the discourse surrounding data privacy and legal infrastructure in India.
