Abstract
The article focuses and aims at in depth understanding of the duties and roles of probation officers in India. The probation officers play a critical role in supervising and managing individuals placed on probation to reintegrate and rehabilitate them in a society. From pre investigation to monitoring and conducting check in with the person on probation, the roles and duties of a probation officer are varied. Furthermore, the author has also explained the legal provision and the historical evolution that has taken place in the roles and duties of probation officers in this article. The article also delves into the different activities and methods used for rehabilitating and reintegrating individuals back into society along with the challenges faced by the probation officers during the course of their work. Therefore, this article will provide a deep in-depth analysis over the activities and task of probation officers in India.
