Article 370, which is in news from past few years is now going to be heard by the Supreme Court. After the abrogation of Article 370 on 6th August 2019 by the Government of India many petitions were filed before Supreme Court. However the matter was not heard from past 2 years. Supreme court on Wednesday (5th July 2023 ) clarified that the Petitions will heard from August and not July 11. Batch of over 20 Petitions are filed.  Various Petitions challenge Presidential Order of August 5, 2019. Petitions also state that the abrogation of Article 370 also lead to withdrawal of rights and freedoms guaranteed to people of Jammu and Kashmir. They also challenge the unilateral move of the government. No opinion of people of the country nor Jammu and Kashmir were considered before taking such decision.

While hearing the case of Teesta Setalvad Justice BR Gavai clarified that from July 11 the matters will be listed for discretion for completing procedural formalities. Therefore the hearings will be held from August 2023. The five judge bench comprises of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, and Surya Kant.
