About the Workshop
Legal Vidhiya presents a 3-Day Live Workshop on “From FIR to Trial: Practical Application of BNS & BNSS in Criminal Litigation” 29th – 31st May 2026
This practical workshop is designed for law students, interns, young advocates, judicial aspirants, academicians, and legal professionals who want a clear and courtroom focused understanding of criminal litigation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
The program takes participants step by step from registration of FIR to final judgment and appeal, combining statutory interpretation, procedural clarity, drafting practice, and advocacy exercises.
DAY 1 – FIR, Arrest & Investigation (BNSS Focus)
From Complaint to Charge Sheet
• Overview and key reforms under BNSS, 2023
• Registration of FIR including Zero FIR and E-FIR
• Arrest procedure and rights of the accused
• Investigation process: statements, search, seizure, charge sheet
• Remand and custody procedure
• Practical roadmap from FIR to filing of charge sheet
DAY 2 – Offences & Charges under BNS
Understanding Substantive Criminal Law
• Overview of BNS, 2023 and major changes
• Classification of offences
• Framing, discharge and alteration of charges
• Important offences under BNS
• Punishment and sentencing principles
• Drafting and charge identification exercise
DAY 3 – Trial, Bail & Courtroom Practice
Litigation Strategy & Advocacy Skills
• Stages of criminal trial
• Bail: regular, anticipatory and default
• Evidence and examination of witnesses
• Final arguments and judgment
• Appeal and revision
• Moot simulation from FIR to final arguments
About the Speaker
Rudra Pradeep Sachdeva is a dedicated legal professional and academician holding B.A. LL.B. and LL.M. degrees, with a specialization in Criminology. Blending courtroom exposure with classroom engagement, he brings a balanced and practice oriented perspective to criminal law and justice administration.
With 3 years of active practice experience, he has gained hands on exposure to criminal litigation, procedural law, and trial strategy. His practical understanding of investigation, charge framing, evidence appreciation, and courtroom advocacy enables him to connect legal provisions with their real world application.
In addition to his litigation experience, he has 5 years of teaching experience, mentoring law students and guiding them through complex concepts of criminal law, criminology, and procedural frameworks. His teaching approach focuses on clarity, analytical reasoning, and application based learning, ensuring that students move beyond textbooks into practical legal thinking.
Combining academic depth with practical insight, Rudra Pradeep Sachdeva is committed to strengthening legal understanding, sharpening advocacy skills, and fostering a deeper appreciation of criminal jurisprudence and criminological studies.
