About the Position
The Research Associate will report to the Executive Director and Senior Research Associate(s) and will be responsible for legal research, litigation support, research, advocacy work, and contributing to CLPR’s public outreach initiatives. The role also includes assisting in administrative functions related to research and project execution.
- Position: Research Associate
- Nature of Role: Full-time
- Location: Bengaluru or New Delhi
- Remuneration: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Scope of Work
- Compile, organize, and analyze legal materials including case law, legislation, and policy documents
- Conduct doctrinal, comparative, and empirical research on constitutional rights and social justice issues
- Draft research outputs including reports, academic papers, policy briefs, and blog posts
- Support workshops, consultations, and public events
- Assist in project management including timelines, documentation, and reporting
- Contribute to dissemination activities including website content, newsletters, and social media outreach
- Coordinate with external stakeholders including academics, civil society, and government officials
- Undertake allied administrative responsibilities
Required Skills
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Ability to write clearly and persuasively
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with MS Office and online research tools
Education & Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law with strong academic credentials
Desirable:
- Postgraduate degree in Law, Public Policy, or related fields
- 0–3 years of experience in legal research, litigation, or policy advocacy
- Prior work on issues relating to Dalit and Adivasi rights, gender justice, disability rights, or minority rights will be an advantage
- Demonstrated commitment to rights-based research and social justice
