About the role: –
The Legal Leader will provide strategic legal leadership and guidance to Urbanrise’s senior management and business teams. This role is pivotal in overseeing complex real estate transactions, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing litigation, and mitigating legal risks across projects pan-India. The incumbent will act as a trusted advisor, safeguarding the company’s interests while enabling business growth.

Location: HSR Layout, Bangalore
Key Responsibilities: –
- Strategic Legal Leadership: Provide visionary guidance on real estate transactions, disputes, and regulatory matters.
- Real Estate Transactions: Oversee and negotiate joint ventures, partnerships, development agreements, and acquisitions.
- Due Diligence: Conduct preliminary and detailed due diligence for properties across India, ensuring timely completion and risk mitigation.
- Documentation: Draft, review, and standardize legal documents including MOUs, LOIs, Joint Development Agreements, Sale Deeds, Lease Agreements, Term Sheets, and marketing agreements.
- Litigation Management: Coordinate with external advocates, manage litigation, arbitration, and court matters.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance under RERA, property registration, taxation laws, and handle RERA-related cases.
- Cross-Functional Support: Provide legal assistance to Sales, CRM, and Marketing teams, including vetting of communication, brochures, allotment letters, and loan-related documents.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks associated with transactions and projects.
- Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with external counsel, regulatory bodies, and government agencies.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide a team of legal professionals, fostering growth and succession planning.
Desirable skills and qualifications: –
Ability to lead teams and manage multiple stakeholders effectively
Minimum 15+ years of experience in legal functions, with strong expertise in real estate law.
Proven track record as a Legal Counsel in the real estate industry or similar environment.
Excellent knowledge of laws, procedures, and compliance frameworks (especially RERA).
Strong drafting, negotiation, and litigation management skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
High degree of professional ethics, integrity, and strategic thinking.
