About the Speaker

Snehlata Shrivastava, is an accomplished Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1982 batch from the Madhya Pradesh (MP) cadre. She holds an M.Phil. in Regional Planning and Economic Growth and a Postgraduate degree in Geography from Bhopal University. Over her distinguished career spanning 35 years, she served in various administrative roles in both the Government of Madhya Pradesh and the Government of India. Her field postings included responsibilities as SDM, Additional Collector, and Collector & District Magistrate, along with key roles in personnel and finance management. She also handled Indian Police Service cadre management for MP, worked with the Indian Income Tax Service, and managed the judicial establishment concerning the Supreme Court and High Courts.

In her central deputation roles, she served as Chief Vigilance Officer in RITES (a PSU under the Indian Railways), Director of Budget in Madhya Pradesh, and later as Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs and Additional Secretary in the Department of Financial Services. Her responsibilities included handling multilateral financial negotiations with institutions such as the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, along with managing regulatory affairs related to public sector banks, insurance companies, and pension funds. She represented India on the Boards of prestigious financial institutions like LIC, IDBI, and NABARD, and eventually retired as Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, where she oversaw matters related to the higher judiciary.

Snehlata Shrivastava made history as the first woman to be appointed Secretary General of the Lok Sabha (House of the People), where she played a pivotal role in strengthening legislative processes and modernizing the parliamentary secretariat through digitization and eco-friendly initiatives. Post-retirement, she continues to contribute to public service as Chairperson of the MP Urban Homeless Committee (as per Supreme Court directive) and serves on the boards of several companies. Her vast international exposure through official travels and extensive experience in high-level diplomatic and financial negotiations make her a respected voice in administrative and policy matters.
