This new unconventional strategy by the BSF might help to reduce the crime rate and would also promote the economy of the border area with the help and co operation of natives. The beehive initiative was launched the 32nd BSF battalion in the border areas of the Nadia district with a clear objective to reduce the illegal hedge cutting operations done by the misfits which includes the smuggling of cattle, narcotics, gold, silver, etc.

3 baselines for the installation of Beehives on the Nadia border by the BSF:

Location: The placement of the beehives on the Nadia border have been placed on a equal manner so it doing attract the potential unfits who are to no good which would also prevent the encounter with the potential smugglers and also for BSF who take care of those hives so it came to a decision that the beehives would installed neither too far nor to close to the border so that it could be reachable by the BSF personnel, whether by foot, vehicles, or any other means.

Ecological Compatibility: The Nadia border region encloses West Bengal in India and Bangladesh, is home to a diverse array of ecosystems, including rich forests, extensive wetlands, and fertile agricultural fields. Each of these ecosystems holds unique characteristic that influence the environment that supports the BSF’s beehive incentive. The BSF choose this location while considering the facts that it could be helpful for them to plant these beehives because of nectar and pollen availability for the bees do that quality products could be produced by these bees while providing them with enough ecological resources to survive in a proper manner.

Civic Participation: The Nadia beehive incentive also holds a key for the enhancement community engagement and to get acknowledged by their support to this project and actively participate with them for betterment of the land. This key to the local community people includes the community meetings and workshops, circulating important informative materials, utilisation of local media channels, providing opportunities for community participation in hive management, which offers skill developmental and training programs, which ultimately cultivates trust, cooperation, and a sense of ownership among the communities.
