The Karnataka High Court has urged the State Government to submit separate and clear proposals for expanding the Court building as the unsettlement was rising because of the limited space within the complex of the court and has asked the Chief Minister to look into the issue. The direction was issued in response to a plea and a separate PIL filed by the advocate L. Ramesh Naik and Mr. Sharan Desai respectively requesting the allocation of additional land of over 30 plots in central Bengaluru for the purpose of expansion of the court premises.

The Bench observed the matter conscientiously and subsequently has issued directions to the State government to make three proposals as a single proposal merely won’t suffice for such matters. The proposal is to be made to the Chief Minister for review and the court has put a compulsion to decide on the proposal within two weeks of the date of order and the copies of the proposals to be submitted to registrar general of the Karnataka’s High Court.

Due to the rise in cases and appointment of new judges, the court is facing congestions and thus, this initiative has been taken additionally to also provide related facilities to reduce the existing and forthcoming obstructions which hampers the smooth functioning of the daily activities of the court. The repercussions in case of delay has been clearly notified by the court and the outcome of this matter is yet to be seen in the upcoming days.

The High Court Building Committee would be assisting the Chief Minister in his consideration of the matter and the obtainment of environmental clearance form by government has been directed by the court for temporal moving of the offices to the places nearby to avoid any further complications.
