About the Institute

Christ Academy Institute of Law (CAIL) is a prominent law school located in Bengaluru and is affiliated to the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU). CAIL aims at molding leaders who are intellectually, spiritually and morally upright and who will strive for the cause of justice, truth and peace.

Under the management of the Carmalites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) priests and guided by India’s core constitutional values, the curriculum at CAIL aims to deliver socially engaged legal education meeting the highest global academic and professional standards. It directly engages with social challenges, especially evaluating and responding to the legal dimensions of globalization and its impact.

Five-year B.A. LL.B., B.B.A. LL.B. and B.Com. LL.B. programmes are offered from a 33-acre lush green campus located at the outskirts of Bengaluru. The admission process at CAIL is guided by the principles of social inclusion and diversity.

About the Competition

Christ Academy Institute of Law, Bengaluru, is proud to host its 4th National Moot Court Competition. The Moot Court Committee at CAIL, is a vibrant student-run body which envisages legal professionals with a sound base in law along with the necessary legal skills which would help the legal system in India deliver justice to the common man.

The competition will be held in Christ Academy Institute of Law, Bengaluru campus. The preliminary round will be on the basis of written argument (Memorial) submission. The qualified teams will proceed to the Quarter final rounds which will be held in CAIL campus.

The 4th CAIL National Moot Court Competition, 2024, presents a compelling scenario focusing on the complex interplay between constitutional principles, international obligations, and refugee rights. Participants will navigate a legal landscape where the rights of marginalized refugees intersect with constitutional amendments and international treaties.

Eligibility Criteria

The Competition is open to bona fide undergraduate students of recognized colleges / institutions / universities who are currently pursuing their Bachelor’s Degree in Law i.e. 3 year LLB or 5 year Integrated or Honour’s LLB Programme with all combinations on a regular basis.

Team Composition

  • Each team shall comprise a maximum of three members and a minimum of two members consisting of either two speakers, or two speakers and one researcher, respectively. The number cannot be modified under any circumstances post registration.
  • Teams shall identify the speakers and researcher during registration. No extra member or observer shall be allowed. No swapping of designation of the members shall be allowed.
  • Not more than one team shall be allowed to register and participate in the competition from the same College / Institution / University.

Prizes

  • Winner: Cash Prize of Rs. 50,000/- with trophy and certificate.
  • 1st Runner Up: Cash Prize of Rs. 20,00/- with trophy and certificate.
  • Best Speaker: Cash Prize of Rs. 5,000/- with trophy and certificate.
  • Best Memorial: Cash Prize of Rs. 5,000/- with trophy and certificate.
  • Certificate of Participation shall be provided to all the participants.

Note: The first 30 teams selected on a first come first served basis will be given the confirmation mail along with the payment details.

Registration Fees

INR 4000 (Rupees Four Thousand Only).

General Details

The Competition shall be held in two phases:

  • Phase 1: Memorial Submission on 10 June 2024 (online) along with the compendium.
  • Phase 2: Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals and Final Rounds: On 3 and 4 August 2024 (Offline).
