About the Workshop

Legal Vidhiya is proud to present a focused 3-day workshop on Arbitration Law and Practice, curated for law students, legal interns, and professionals. This workshop aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, its key provisions, practical application, and the evolving role of arbitration in India’s dispute resolution landscape.

Participants will be introduced to core concepts of arbitration agreements, the constitution and jurisdiction of arbitral tribunals, and the making and enforcement of arbitral awards. Through landmark case discussions, drafting exercises, and interactive problem-solving activities, this workshop will equip attendees with the knowledge and skills necessary for real-world arbitration practice.

Day 1: Understanding the Arbitration Agreement & Commencement of Proceedings

Session Objectives:

(a) Understand the legal foundation and essentials of a valid arbitration agreement
(b) Explore the scope and jurisdiction under Part I of the Act
(c) Examine how arbitration proceedings are initiated and referred

Section 7 – Arbitration Agreement
