About the Opportunity
Legal Vidhiya is inviting applications from eligible candidates for its 1 Month Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Internship Program scheduled for April 2026.
Join our 1 Month IPR Internship Program this April 2026 and gain hands-on experience in understanding and analyzing various aspects of Intellectual Property Law through live sessions conducted by experienced legal professionals and academicians.
This internship is a valuable opportunity to strengthen your knowledge in Copyright, Trademark, Patent, Industrial Designs, Geographical Indications, and Trade Secrets, while enhancing your research and analytical skills in the field of Intellectual Property Rights. Participants will gain practical exposure to case law analysis, statutory interpretation, and IP documentation — all from the comfort of their home. Upon successful completion, interns will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Week 1: Introduction to Intellectual Property & International Framework
Class 1: Fundamentals of Intellectual Property

Class 2: International IP Framework & Practical Understanding
- TRIPS Agreement
- WIPO
- India’s role in global IP protection
- Identifying IP in daily life (apps, brands, music, inventions, packaging, software)
Task 1 (Submission at End of Week 1): “Identify IP Assets of a Startup/Company”
Students must:
- Choose a startup/company
- Identify different IP assets (logo, brand name, software, content, packaging, patents, etc.)
- Classify them under the correct IP categories
Week 2: Copyright Law (India)
Class 3: Overview of Copyright Law
- Copyright Act, 1957 – Overview
- Works protected under copyright
- Authorship & Ownership
- Moral Rights & Economic Rights
Class 4: Infringement & Digital Era Challenges
- Fair Dealing vs. Infringement
- Digital copyright & AI-generated works
- Copyright registration process
- Case study discussion (music/film/social media disputes)
Task 2 (Submission at End of Week 2): Drafting Assignment – Copyright Protection
Students must:
- Draft a basic copyright notice
- Analyze a given case scenario and determine whether it amounts to infringement or fair dealing

- Concept of Distinctiveness

Class 6: Practical Trademark Application
- Passing Off vs. Infringement

Task 3 (Submission at End of Week 3): Trademark Practical Task
Students must:
- Conduct a basic trademark search (theoretical explanation)
- Draft a basic trademark application (mock format)
Week 4: Practical IP Strategy & Final Project

Class 8: Practical Workshop & Career Guidance

Task 4 (Final Submission): IP Portfolio Management Assignment
Students must:
- Prepare a structured IP Portfolio Plan for a startup/company
- Suggest registration strategy (Trademark/Copyright/Patent if applicable)
- Suggest renewal, monitoring, and enforcement strategy
- Provide commercialization or licensing suggestions
