About the Speaker
Dr. Soumi Chatterjee is an author, researcher, and academician with extensive expertise in law and social justice. She is the Founder and CEO of SRTD Group, LLP, and Vidhi Vaarta, dedicated to legal research, education, and awareness. She pursued her B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Laws from the Indian Law Institute. Furthering her academic journey, she completed her LL.M. in Business Laws and earned her Ph.D. on the topic “A Socio-Legal Study on Misuse of Anti-Dowry Laws by Women against their Husbands and In-Laws, with Special Reference to the District of Gautam Buddha Nagar, U.P. – A Critical Evaluation.”
Dr. Chatterjee has a diverse professional background, having practiced advocacy at the High Court of New Delhi and served as an Assistant Legal Manager at M/S TATA Teleservices Ltd. Her academic contributions include her tenure as an Assistant Professor at the School of Law and Legal Affairs, Noida International University, and the Institute of Legal Studies and Research, GLA University, Mathura. She is also a certified trainer in Gender Sensitization, Diversity and Inclusion, and the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH).
As an author, Dr. Chatterjee has made significant contributions to legal literature. She authored the book “Dowry – Laws and its Misuse in India” (2021) and edited “From Abused to Abuser – Misuse of Laws in India” (2023), published by Satyam Law International Publication. Her work has gained recognition, and she has been featured in an interview with the Voice of India Channel. She has published numerous research papers in national and international journals and was honored with the Young Researchers Award by the Institute of Scholars in 2021.
Beyond her professional and academic pursuits, Dr. Chatterjee is actively involved in legal education and social service. She serves as the Faculty Coordinator at Vidhi Seva and Samajik Utthan Samiti and holds the esteemed position of Editor-in-Chief of the Doon Journal of Multidisciplinary Research. With her vast experience and dedication, she continues to contribute significantly to legal research, education, and policy advocacy.
