Known for its century-old legacy, Banaras Hindu University is an edifice of learning and the epitome of wisdom. Located in the revered city of Varanasi, the Faculty of Law, BHU is known far and wide for its outstanding and unmatched devotion to legal education.
Time and again, it has produced a commendable number of legal luminaries and continues to do so with each passing year. The Faculty of Law has a hundred-year-old history that is incomparable to any traditional institution in this country.
About the Event
The Faculty of Law, BHU, in collaboration with the esteemed Competition Commission of India and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas as Knowledge Partner is hosting the 11th edition of the prestigious Mahamana Malaviya National Moot Court Competition, from 8th – 10th March 2024.
The theme for this edition is ‘Interplay of Intellectual Property Rights & Competition Law‘.
The Competition shall consist of the following rounds i.e., Memorial Selection Round, Researcher’s Test, Two Preliminary Rounds, and Three Advanced Rounds, viz. Quarter-finals, Semi-Finals, and Final.
Eligibility
The competition is open to bona fide undergraduate students who are pursuing a 5-year LL.B. course or 3-year LL.B. course in India from any College/Institution/University recognized by the Bar Council of India.
How to Register?
Students interested in participating in the 11th Mahamana Malaviya National Moot Court Competition, 2024 are required to register by duly submitting a filled Google form (attached at the end of the post) on or before 25th January, 2024 latest by 11:59 PM IST.
This will be regarded as the participating institution’s tentative registration. The competition brochure contains detailed information regarding the same.
Teams shall submit the soft copy of the memorials at mccfacultyoflawbhu@gmail.com on or before 10th February 2024 by 11:59 PM IST.
Team Composition
The participating team shall comprise a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of three (3) members. In a team of two (2) members, both the members shall be designated as ‘Speakers’.
In a team of three (3) members, two members shall be designated as ‘Speakers’ and the third member of the team shall be designated as a ‘Researcher’.
The Organizing Committee reserves the right to bar any team from participating in the Competition.
Fee
Provisional Registration is free of cost. Post memorial selections, the teams qualifying for the Oral rounds shall have to deposit a participation fee of INR 6,000/- (Inclusive of accommodation) on or before 25th February 2024, 11:59 PM IST, for final registrations.
The details of the payment method will be intimated along with the result of the memorial selection round on 17th February 2024.
Prizes
The winners shall be awarded Cash prizes, Certificates, Trophies & Internship Opportunities at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, and other perks which may be announced at the later stage of the Competition. There shall be awards under the following categories:
- Winning Team – ₹ 40,000/-*
- Runner-Up Team- ₹ 30,000/-
- Best Speaker- ₹ 10,000/-
- Best Memorial- ₹ 10,000/-
- Best Researcher- ₹ 10,000/-
