About the Conference

The role of media in shaping history, contemporary issues and legal implications is complex. Media has the potential to provide information, shed light on affairs and change the path, however, it also has the power to disrupt, manipulate and cause harm.

The said labyrinth is important to untangle and understand. It possesses an intricate relationship between media and society. It is to be ensured that the media serves as a force for positive change in the individuals consuming the media.

Media wields power that is dominant to opinionize people segregated in classes. It can change the course of history through several means of media. However, they also hold a filter of pessimism or optimism influencing the contemporary issues and media trials affecting the legal discourse.

With the advancing times, with the fourth industrial revolution in the process, AI is transforming the field as well. The way information is created, consumed and calculated is remarkable. With this remarkability, tasks like writing, editing and personalization of the content are being automated. Is this automation good or bad? That is for the time to tell.

Looking at the future, AI will answer. However, looking in the past, Freedom of press is enshrined in the Constitution of India yet the laws and censorship through the government creates a complex balance between rights and responsibilities.

Navigating this landscape while upholding the status of ‘fourth pillar’ is definitely a challenge. The media, as defenders of fundamental freedoms, is essential in defending human rights, exposing power abuses, and speaking up for those who lack a voice.

The media must, however, use its influence responsibly, guaranteeing truthfulness, impartiality, and regard for human dignity.

We invite all like-minded work on this subject to engage with the conference’s different issues and have a critical conversation to navigating the maze of media influence.
