Objective of the Journal: Focus of Special Issue

Queries into the question of nature do not occur frequently in contemporary philosophical literature. Ironically, the word nature is a complex word in itself, but it is explained in the terms of its resources. Natural resources are those parts of nature that provide goods and services critical to survival, well-being and development of humanity, making them fundamental to our survival.

However, over- exploitation of these resources by mankind has shaken the entire equilibrium of nature and challenged the Anthropocene in conserving and managing natural resources.

We, the Indians can’t ignore the British roots of our legal framework for natural resource management and the principles that articulate these rules. The State control, by and large, on natural resources is actually a gift of colonial raj which continued after independence. However, with the passage of time due to the intervention of hyper judicial activism in free India an additional complexity arose which gave the corporate sectors- the core stakeholders a threshold over the natural resources.

For its Special Issue of 2024 Journal of Law,, invites contributions to provide a platform where research scholars can engage in debates to analyse and assess the efficacy of legal regimes on natural resources utilisation and to find ways in which Law and policy may have to be recast to facilitate the overarching goal of their sustainable management.
