Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur (M.P.) was established in the year 2018, by Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University Act, 24 of 2018, with the object of advancing the cause of legal education and achieving excellence as a university for imparting value-based legal education to undergraduate as well as postgraduate students.

About CCL

The Centre for Constitutional Law was established in the year 2020, ever since its establishment, the centre has been working to generate debate and discourse on various nuances about constitutional law. It has been an active participant in the University’s ecosystem. The Centre for Constitutional Law is a student-run organization, which seeks to work towards sparking an interest in the legal fraternity about the crucial role of constitutional law.

In contemporary times, the Preamble continues to be relevant as India navigates through complex socio-political issues.

It provides a moral compass for policymakers, guiding them towards policies and initiatives that uphold the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. Moreover, it serves as a rallying point for civil society movements, inspiring citizens to advocate for social justice, human rights, and democratic values.

Papers are invited on the following themes related to the Preamble of the Indian Constitution:

Equality: Exploration of the concept of equality in terms of status and opportunity, and its realization in Indian society.
Fraternity: Understanding the significance of fraternity in fostering unity, dignity, and integrity among diverse communities.
Historical Context: Historical perspectives on the drafting and adoption of the Preamble in the Constituent Assembly.
Legal Interpretations: Legal analyses of judicial interpretations and implications of the Preamble in Indian jurisprudence.
Comparative Studies: Comparative studies with other constitutional Preambles or international frameworks on similar principles.

Submission Guidelines

Author Information: Authors must include their name, designation, name of the organization/ university/ institution, email address, and contact number on the first page (cover page) of their submitted document.
Word Limit: The abstract should be between 300 and 400 words, while the full paper should be between 5000 and 6000 words.
Format Requirements: All submissions must be made in MS Word Document format (.doc/.docx) only. The formatting specifications are as follows:
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font Size: 12
- Line Spacing: 1.5
- Text Alignment: Justified
Footnotes: Footnotes must be single-spaced, using Times New Roman font, size 10, with a 12 pt space between separate footnotes.
Citation Format: Please use footnotes instead of endnotes. Footnotes should conform to the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA, 4th edition).
Co-authorship: Co-authorship is permitted for this call for chapters, with a maximum of two co-authors per paper.
Originality: All submissions must be the original work of the contributors and should not have been previously submitted for consideration in any other publication.
Plagiarism Policy: Any plagiarized work will be rejected outright. Submission Email: All submissions should be sent via email to papersubmission@mpdnlu.ac.in.
Notification of Acceptance or Rejection: Authors will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of their abstracts after the review process.
Additional Notes: Authors are strongly encouraged to adhere strictly to the specified guidelines. Any deviations from the guidelines may result in disqualification. The editorial board reserves the right to make necessary editorial changes for clarity, consistency, and style.

Deadline

The deadline for abstract submission is June 30, 2024, and the deadline for full paper submission is July 31, 2024.

Review Process

All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process conducted by experts in the field. Papers will be evaluated based on originality, relevance, clarity, and contribution to the understanding of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution.
