About The Centre for Studies on Tribals and Indigenous Communities

The Centre for Studies on Tribals and Indigenous Communities was established in 2024. It focuses on enhancing the understanding and development of tribal communities. Its objectives include researching tribal history, culture, and traditional knowledge, and assessing the impact of government schemes on welfare. The Centre will identify barriers to healthcare, education, and other entitlements, providing policy recommendations. It will conduct field studies, organize conferences, and publish a peer-reviewed journal. Additionally, it aims to build the capacity of tribal youth and leaders through educational programs, while promoting sustainable livelihoods and inclusive development for tribal communities through research and collaboration.

About The Book

“Tribal Studies in India: Contemporary Issues, Challenges, and Perspectives” will be an edited volume that aims to critically explore and document the evolving realities of tribal communities in India. As India stands at the crossroads of rapid modernization, global economic shifts, and socio- political transformations, its indigenous populations face complex challenges. This book seeks to bring together scholarly contributions from various disciplines to deepen our understanding of these issues, while also highlighting the resilience, cultural richness, and agency of tribal groups in India.

The book will provide a platform for both theoretical reflections and empirical studies, addressing key questions about tribal identity, rights, and sustainability. The volume aims to not only focus on the problems faced by tribal communities but also to bring forth their strategies for resistance, adaptation, and survival. By engaging with interdisciplinary frameworks, this book will cover a wide range of topics, such as tribal governance, land and resource rights, environmental conservation, healthcare disparities, education, and the socio-political movements within tribal groups.

This volume will bring together academic contributions from various disciplines to examine the historical, cultural, social, political, and economic dimensions of tribal life in India, with a focus on contemporary issues.

The editorial board reserves the right to make necessary editorial changes for clarity, consistency, and style. Authors will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of their submissions after the review process.

Review Process

All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process conducted by experts in the field. Papers will be evaluated based on originality, relevance, clarity, and contribution to the understanding of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution.

Publication Opportunities

Selected papers will be considered for publication in an edited book published by a reputed publisher.
