COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding and practical training in criminal and civil drafting, including the key aspects of court procedures, the drafting of various legal documents, and the application of legal principles in real-world scenarios. The syllabus covers a wide range of topics, from the basics of drafting to the intricacies of legal procedures, ensuring that students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively draft and manage legal documents in both criminal and civil matters.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand the structure of Indian courts and the stages of criminal and civil proceedings.
- Identify and draft key legal documents such as FIRs, complaints, petitions, notices, and applications under various sections of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.P.C) and Civil Procedure Code (CPC).
- Draft applications for bail, appeals, revisions, and special leave petitions, along with documents related to arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
- Apply legal drafting techniques in specific contexts, including matrimonial disputes, consumer complaints, and public interest litigations (PIL).
- Develop the ability to critically analyze legal issues and effectively communicate legal arguments through well-structured drafts.
- Gain practical skills in electronic evidence handling, and drafting related to arbitration, family law, and consumer protection.
- Successfully navigate through various stages of litigation, from filing a suit to executing awards, and challenging them when necessary.
ABOUT THE COURSE INSTRUCTOR
Shivani Gupta is a distinguished law professional and faculty member at KGK PG College in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. A gold medalist in LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from IFTM University, she also holds an LL.B. from Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Law from Invertis University.
With over two years of teaching experience and previous tenure at SRMS College of Engineering & Technology, Shivani has also gained practical legal experience through internships at the District Court in Moradabad. She is an active participant in the legal community, serving as a judge in moot court competitions and as a research intern at UNHCR.
Shivani’s memberships in organizations like the International Trademark Association and the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration reflect her dedication to the legal field. Her academic and professional achievements make her a respected figure in the legal community.
