Prime Minister Modi , in his recent speech endorsed the importance of implementation of Uniform Civil Code. This has led to mix reactions between the different Muslim organizations. The All-India Muslim Personal Law board and Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind have run down the proposal. The AIMPLB being dubious on its stand tried to accustom the support of al =l minorities against the UCC, the board under new presidency has criticized the proposal.
While Jamiat Ulama-i-hind has openly denounced the proposal stating it to be violative of religious freedom protected under article 25 and 26 of the Indian Constitution. It alleges that UCC threatens the secular fabric of the country, where diversity has remained the essence of the country.
The community is also trying to pacifying with the fact that the UCC is just a proposal made and it would require a humongous activity of drafting and hit and trial method before the code is actually implemented.
The Tablighi Jamaat has not yet commented on the proposal of UCC, which remains largest Muslim body in India.
